Nasreen's paintings in "Flow of Colours" at KLPac from 9th to 16th November 2014

Eight years-old Nasreen is the youngest child in a family of four children -  a sister  and two brothers. She was diagnosed having mild autism disorder at the age of three.

Since the age of four, Nasreen was  observed to have the talent and passion for drawing. She insisted that these drawings would be displayed on the walls of the living room of the family home or on the refrigerator door in the kitchen.

From stick drawings of human faces and figures, they spread to cars, buildings, the skies and the seas. Details to the facial features could be observed in these early drawings, especially emphasising long and curly eye lashes.

Lady luck was on Nasreen’s side when teacher Seeling agreed to take Nasreen into her art class. Her first session with Seeling started in the third quarter of 2013. To date she has more than 40 paintings under the tutelage of Seeling, covering human figures, animals, fruits, flowers and still life.

Nasreen’s current focus in her paintings is on chickens some of which are displayed in this exhibition.

Nasreen attends school at Sekolah Pendidikan Khas, Cheras Indah and she is currently in Standrd Two. To enhance her language development, Nasreen also enrols in speech therapy classes which is now entering  the fourth year. Her biomedical therapy which addresses physiological and physical development issues is also into the fourth year.
