Me and My Cat

Zahra is a bubbly and cheerful 12 years old girl from Iran. She was diagnosed with down syndrome when she was born. Her family moved to Malaysia last year and currently she is studying at Horizon Expatriate School, Kuala Lumpur. With intensive early intervention with counselors and therapists, she is now an independent happy child with varied interests. She enjoys painting, swimming , dancing and singing. Zahra’s painting is very bright and full of colours. She enjoys using pink in most of her work.

Zahirra (Za) is a 14 year old teenager. She started art lesson about one and a half years ago.  She looks forward to going for her art class every week and usually would have a rough idea beforehand what to paint. She likes to draw flowers and animals. Her favourite colour is light blue and she tries to include this colour in most of her artworks.

Ling Yee is a young adult with autism. She is currently attending art lesson to develop her skill in drawing and painting. She likes to paint her work with flat colours without texture. Currently her work is about Cats.

Nadiah's Paintings

Nadiah's favourite pastime is Bubble Bath. She enjoys painting girls playing with bubbles in most of her paintings. Though the theme is always about Bubble Bath, Nadiah knows how to recompose her work. Her signature name "Nadiah" has become part of her creation too.

 How a weekly painting exercise on canvas becomes an Art piece?

They have difficulties in receiving instructions and require a high level of verbal feedback to help them 

in their daily activities.  Art lesson at studio helps them to develop their cognitive and motor planning skills. Conscious attention is not easy for them but with practice and effort, they are able to produce Art Pieces that brings Joys to their family at home.

Suen Yi's paintings

Suen Yi is 7 years old this year, the youngest participant in the coming show "Pieces of Joy"

She loves Ben & Holly, Canimals and Peppa Pig. She started painting 8 months ago at Thumb Art Studio. She enjoys painting with acrylic. Now she requested to paint her canvas on an easel after seeing her art teacher using it for her painting. Her naive work tells the story of her daily activities at school, home and playground.
