Ryan's paintings in the coming show "Flow of Colours" at KLPac from 9th to 16th November 2014.

Ryan Raveen Raj is a 13-year-old boy who was diagnosed with Down's Syndrome at a very early age. He currently undergoes skills based education  in SM Sinar Bintang, Kepong, where he has managed to maintain good grades while showing noticeable improvements as time progresses.

When Ryan was 11 years old, he started communicating by drawing. What first started off as mere scribbles, slowly began to take shape as animals and characters that Ryan had a fondness for. This was a huge breakthrough, considering the fact that before this Ryan did not have much of an interest in writing.

Upon discovering his new interest, we decided to exploit it in a way to help him improve as an individual. Fortunately, during the course of our search for someone who could help us, we came across an article about Tan See Ling in The Star newspaper. We we're overjoyed as we had finally found someone who was willing to teach art to children with special needs.

He started painting with Tan See Ling in late 2012 and since then he has shown great interest in art and crafts. Over the course of his time with See Ling, he has produced several pieces of paintings featuring animals he loves, including our two dogs Shadow and Trixie.

Day by day, his technique and form with the brush is improving. Our hope for the future is that Ryan may continue to express himself through art and continue to improve with the help of Ms.Tan See Ling.

Melanie's paintings in "Flow of Colours" at Kl Pac this coming 9th to 16th November 2014.

Melanie is a cheerful 12 year old girl who enjoys art as well as singing and dancing. She started painting since she was seven and is still enjoying it very much.

Melanie loves nature and the outdoors, she enjoys taking strolls in the park or 'forest' as she calls it. She also adores animals and enjoys painting pictures of her furry friends.

Melanie's early age learning includes many nursery rhymes. She likes to sing them while she paints. Thus, the beginning pieces of her work are based on her favourites rhymes.
